tea towels
saw this tutorial for vintage tea towels over at the purlbee and I needed to do something last night - so here are mine. I made 3 from some white linen I had lying around in a couple of hours. All are different sizes and I didn't draw measured lines like the tutorial mentioned to do, I'm quite happy with my 'organic' lines. My lines are by eye which I'm sure is quite obvious : )

& then there were 3
well it would seem I couldn't stop at 1, here's 2 more, so much fun to make - a quick little project. I love the evenness of crochet.
I haven't used any of them yet, my theory was make another to USE and I wouldn't feel bad about it - I would keep one as is and 1 may be for a gift... What is wrong with me - why can't I use one!!!!!
Do I have to make 1 more...? probably
a little linen pouch

crochet :: washcloth
Found this a while ago over at the purl bee - Whit's Knits: Mother's Day Washcloths. I purchased the yarn with the red thread wrapped around it from purl soho, I don't think they have it at the moment. The plain cotton I just purchased locally. It's a shame you can't find really nice yarns locally, of course you can buy them from overseas but once you add the shipping a little project just ends up costing too much. I think at the time I bought the yarn with the red thread they had 25% off which made it okish - bundled with a few other things it was reasonable. Anyway this was fun to make, I started yesterday and finished it today.
I used an 8ply 100% cotton for the plain section, maybe it should have been 10ply, it doesn't quite square up exactly with the red coloured lines. (I'm no crochet expert, so not sure about that).
It could be too nice to use as a washcloth, I should probably make another one so I can use it...

progress on sashiko all over
it's going to take a while - one quarter completed.
I bought the wrong sashiko thread, without even thinking I selected white - when it arrived in the post I immediately knew it should have been ecru. White is 101, ecru is 102 in the pic below. I guess I'll find a use for the white one day. From the pic the white looks right, but trust me it's the ecru.

the next quilt :: sashiko all over
Some fabrics from my stash have been sewn together, some cotton, double gauze & some linen. All fabrics that I love and that I've finally put to use.
I'm using sashiko thread to do the quilting and I plan on covering the whole quilt with the stitching.
One piece I have hand sewn on top.
This quilt is 3 layers - the top, a layer of calico and the backing.
I did have to buy the backing which is a green linen.
